AFP spin flipper

The AFP spin flipper converts high field seeking UCN that have passed the first high field region of the tSPECT magnetic bottle into low field seeking UCN that can be stored inside the magnetic bottle formed by the aSPECT magnet system (axial storage) and the multipole magnet (radial storage). It is based on the principle of adiabatic fast passage through a magnetic gradient with RF resonance excitation.

The prototype of the AFP spin flipper for tSPECT has been tested in a beam time in July 2015 and works according to expectations.
